Tennis coach, Callum Moore, has been brought in by the national governing body of tennis in Great Britain, LTA, to work closely with St Helens Council’s Sports Development team and local clubs in a bid to increase club membership numbers – and usage in many of the free-to-use courts in public parks across the borough.
LJMU Sports Development graduate, Callum, 27, who has played the sport since the age of 12, said: “Development and growing tennis has always been a passion from university which has now led to me being in my role now.
“I have a background in setting up and developing community tennis projects and excited about this opportunity.”
Regional LTA Participation Partner, Allison Lewis, added: “We want tennis to be opened up to as many people as possible to get more people playing tennis more often. We aim to make the sport more relevant, accessible, welcoming and enjoyable.”
A full list of local public and private courts can be found by visiting: clubspark.lta.org.uk/ StHelensCommunityTennis
While usage of park tennis courts is free, booking is encouraged through an online system which can be found in the link above to help create a better customer experience for players.
